Chiron Health Acquired by Medici

A message from Andrew O’Hara, Chiron’s Founder & CEO.

To the Chiron Health community:

I am excited to announce that Chiron has been acquired by Medici, an Austin-based remote care company. Chiron was founded five years ago with a simple mission: To improve access to high-quality healthcare for thousands of patients across the country. A lot of progress has been made towards this mission in Chiron’s first chapter as an independent company, and even more progress is sure to come as we join forces with the Medici team.

For those not familiar, Medici is a telemedicine company focused on secure messaging between providers and patients – an increasingly important area of the remote care market. As the company adds Chiron’s expertise in scheduled video visits, telemedicine reimbursement, and EHR integration, Medici is poised to become the preeminent remote care technology provider for physician practices.

As I look back on what Chiron has accomplished since Charlie and I started the company back in 2013, a lot of thank yous are in order. We entered a nascent market and faced a lot of skepticism around the idea healthcare could be delivered effectively over video. I like to think that we played at least a small role in changing that perception and in nudging telemedicine into the mainstream. None of this would have been possible without a talented team, a loyal base of customers and partners, and a dedicated group of investors and advisors. Thank you.

Looking forward, I couldn’t be more optimistic about prospects of the new combined organization and of the remote care space more broadly. I first got excited about health IT as a young stock analyst listening to athenahealth’s CEO talk about making healthcare work as it should. I think that a thriving remote care ecosystem is a perfect example of healthcare working as it should, and I’m confident that the Chiron-Medici team is going to continue making this a reality.

Onward and upward,

Andy
